I’m looking for a supercharger for my c6 Z06 what is the best kind?
After getting a supercharger will I need to get any other products because of the amount of power?
I’m thinking I will depends on how much power.

well.. i’m a fan of centrifugal superchargers.. so rotrex, vortech, procharger.. rotrex did a twin supercharger Z06 that laid down 1,100 hp and the only internal parts they had to change was the pistons.. needed dished pistons to lower compression to 9.1:1.. well with the high compression of the LS7 you’ll need to lower the compression with either new pistons or some head work or even both depending on the amount of boost your running.. great thing about the other internals on a LS7 is they are made to withstand nearly twice as much power as the motor produces stock
November 7th, 2009 at 11:05 pmayslum.. your dead wrong if you think adding a eaton TVS will make a LS7 into a LS9.. LS7 = 7.0l… LS9= 6.2l.. and what are you talking about.. centrifugal superchargers operate on two gears.. low gear and high gear.. you still above atmospheric pressure even at idle.. lag wtf are you talking about.. i had a 6.0l vortec with a rotrex c38 supercharger laying 14lbs of boost.. at idle it was laying 4lbs no lag buddy.. also it is a proven fact centrifugals take less than 1/2 horsepower of parasitic energy to operate
study up before you fail again
also praise to you tony you like centrifugals too! my favorite company is rotrex but i’ve done alot of work with them before.. to be honest i’ve never worked with procharger or vortech

I agree with the previous answer, you would probably want to ask them if it is necessary to upgrade a few things like going to a colder plug, upgrading injectors, messing around with different parameters on your PCM to get the most power per gallon of fuel possible while still gaining fuel economy. just because you add a supercharger, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice fuel economy when done right.

Running an eaton TVS will basically transform your LS-7 into an LS9 (ZR-1 motor).
November 7th, 2009 at 11:29 pmYes extras depend on power increase. I do not like centrifugals for anything but max power, because they are dynamic compressors (meaning they produce more boost per revolution the faster they spin) they are not well performing at lower rpms, and do not have the same benefit that their turbo sisters do. They basically have the same lag turbos do, but cost energy to spin like a supercharger, so they are the worst of both worlds. (kinda) efficiency is higher than the old roots chargers, and maybe slightly higher than a TVS charger. Screw types are actually the best type,(for all around driving) but are also the most expensive.

best advice for u is to look it up for yourself contact procharger, paxton.novi… trough net n get the kit for your needs.each level requires up grades… these guys spend thousands on r&d.that way you know for yourself what works and what dont.

My personal opinion has to side with Procharger. A P1-SC or D1-SC would be a perfect kit for your ZO6. You can buy the complete kit and be done with it. I have a P1-SC on my 89 Trans Am, we’ve done a few Procharger kits on C5 ‘vettes at the shop….they’re a blast to drive and they’re good kits.
