A temporray fix is to tighten some stainless steel hose clamps around the pipes to seal the holes. They’re the same clamps used to hold the radiator hoses on your car. You can also buy bigger worm drive clamps from the home plumbing center that can be daisy chained together to fit around the muffler. Use aluminum roof flashing metal to seal bigger holes.

Other people gave good suggestions for a cheap/easy way to fix it, so I will give you a suggestion if you want to spend a little more money.
November 30th, 2009 at 4:27 amTake a look at Flowmaster muffler systems. This brand is known to be THE best sounding exhaust system for muscle cars and trucks. It is also one of the highest quality and longest lasting products out there. But be warned, this system is LOUD!! A cat-back system (one that starts after the catalytic converter and goes to the tailpipe at the end) would be a very good set up for performance, sound, and quality.
Good Luck!

The hole can be fixed at a muffler shop for about $30. To make it louder take the mufflers off and run straight pipes.

Depends on what state you live in there are a number of ways to repair that. Any thing from remove everything and put an old fashioned dual exhaust – to putting a whole new factory replacement exhaust system on it. It does sound like you probably have a plugged cat and possible a plugged muffler.
