If I felt the urge to need to say something I would try to speak to him like he is human. Giving people the benefit of the doubt is part of my character. I would try not to treat him like I hate him or like him. I would try to just say anything that doesn’t have to do with NASCAR. I would guess they get NASCAR talk everywhere they go. I’m sure it would be refreshing to have a conversation about something other than NASCAR for them.
I’d pretend he was my favorite. I’d kiss up to him so bad that it would be embarrassing to watch. I’d ask for his autograph, and do all of the appropriate swooning and drooling.
EDIT: My son says “You should spit in his general direction”. LOL Did I raise him right or what? : )
Shake the hand! He is a NASCAR driver for heaven’s sake.
My favorite driver I would be all tongue tied and not be able to speak, the guy I don’t like is easy to talk to.
That is how my luck goes, I have met Tony Stewart & Denny Hamlin and I had no trouble talking to them. I ran into Clint Bowyer and didn’t say a word, I was 10 feet from Junior and couldn’t even open my mouth to say hey ;(
I’d be wearing my Gordon gear of course. I would smile and ask for an autograph and a photo.
Last year it was rumored that Jimmie, Tony and Chad were traveling through my town when they broke down. Of course it was not true as it was the day after the banquet and I live NO WHERE NEAR New York. At first it didn’t dawn on me that the banquet was the night before – it wasn’t advertised AT ALL, and the fact that it was impossible due to the distance, but I was still pretty excited about going to the casino (where they were supposedly coming to hang out).
I would flip him the bird and throw spit balls at him. J/K!!
Nah, I would try to get a autograph like the others have said. Its not like you see them alone out in public everyday.
Add: I would also walk up behind them slap them on the back and while doing that put a # 2 sticker on his back.
I’d try to meet him just like anyone of his fans would. It doesn’t matter which driver it is, I would always want to meet any driver if I could. It would be a waste of time to show I didn’t care for him as a driver, so I would just try to meet him and get an autograph.
I would be nice to any driver even If I didn’t like him. By the way, this could really happen. About a month ago I was at the Allentown Pa. airport where my son is a pilot. Mario Andretti walked right past me. He had a black tux on and was talking to a woman( i guess it was his wife) I didn’t want to bother him and didn’t say anything. Oh yeah, I always liked Mario Andretti.
I would still want to ask him for his autograph and after he gave it to me i would tell him that i don’t like him. J/K
I respect them all as athletes just some more than others.
I don’t like Tony Stewart but I would still love to meet him. After all, I don’t even know him, he could be a great guy and I don’t see it during race coverage.

November 25th, 2009 at 6:28 pmSomething in my blood would never let me “diss” the competition.
