Chrysler Dropped Plans on the Imperial Luxury Sedan

22 December 2009 | No Comments » | admin

Chrysler part of the used to be Detroit?s Big Three and producer of American Motors catalytic converter is now down to being the fourth-largest US automaker. And just recently it has announced that it is dropping its plans for a new Imperial luxury sedan due to the rising gasoline prices and tougher fuel-economy regulations.

It can be noted that the Senate has passed a bill last month calling for automakers to raise their average fuel mileage to at least 35 miles a gallon by 2020 the same proposal in the House would also hold manufacturers to the same standard by 2018.

Chrysler?s executives have made the decision within the past few weeks according to the automaker?s spokesman Ed Saenz. The Auburn Hills, Michigan-based automaker has unveiled its Imperial two years ago and has scheduled the production to start in 2009 in Brampton, Ontario.

Saenz said, “There was no business case for us to bring it to the market. We will continue to look for a future product for the plant.” He also added that the decision has put $597 million of investment in the factory on hold but will not affect any of the plant?s 3,500 jobs.

Chrysler will be investing $3 billion in order to produce more fuel-efficient engines and other powertrain components. It is no secret that the automaker has been badly hurt by its reliance on pickup trucks, sport-utility vehicles and minivans that are continuously losing sales as US gasoline prices soared nearly to $3 a gallon. Another reason for Chrysler?s decision to divert its production target is the fact that the US Congress is also considering an increase in fuel-efficiency standards.

Tom Libby, an analyst at marketing-research firm J.D. Power & Associates in Westlake Village, California said, “It makes sense not to build a high-end, lower-volume car when the direction of the market is moving toward smaller vehicles. If there is a hole left in Chrysler’s product lineup without the Imperial, it’s a not a hole in the growing part of the market.”

Chrysler has also planned to pull the production of a new vehicle from the Brampton plant if the Canadian Auto Workers didn?t agree to give up a wage premium of about C$125 a week. The union has initially rejected the pay provision but then changed its decision last March 11 giving way for the planned investment.

Chrysler is being sold by parent DaimlerChrysler AG to Cerberus Capital Management LP which is purchasing 80.1 percent stake in Chrysler in an agreement that includes a $7.4 billion investment and will be completed this quarter.

It was the Windsor Star in Windsor, Ontario that reported the change in plan of Chrysler which is not to go on with the production of the Imperial.

Ford Auto Parts: Keeping the Vision of Quality and Technology

22 December 2009 | No Comments » | admin

The Ford Motor Company began as a dream of one man to bridge people with advanced transport technology. It was an ambitious dream, but one that answered the needs of a society on the brink of high-gear industrialization.

It didn?t come easy, however, as the company?s first series of automobiles endured bouts of indifference from the market. Not losing faith, the company relentlessly continued on engineering various motor cars, until one unit, the Ford Model T, finally captured the full interest and esteem of the public. Fast track to 19 years and 15 million Model Ts later, and the Ford Motor Company has already catapulted itself into a giant enterprise in the automotive industry. And at present, after more than a hundred years of continuous hard work and pure determination in the industry, the visions of one Henry Ford are still paying off as his founding company has now become one of the most successful brands in the world.

To date, Ford Motor Company has now evolved into a family of superior automobile brands, which comprises of: Ford, Jaguar, Mazda, Mercury, Lincoln, Land Rover, and Volvo. Nevertheless, Ford has not lose sight of the vision to create top-quality and state-of-the-art vehicles. And relative to these are the corresponding top-quality and state-of-the-art components that function simultaneously. These Ford auto parts are uniquely engineered especially for Ford models to complement performance and sophisticated style that the brand is famous for. Such parts can be categorized as performance devices, exterior parts, and the interior line. Ford performance parts would include a multi-point injection fuel system, updated front and rear suspension systems that yield smoother and quieter rides, heavy-duty alternator and battery, quality four disk brakes with the equivalent ventilated discs, as well as the engine system in which case Ford is known to use powerful V6 or V8 engine concoctions. On the other hand, Ford interior and exterior parts may consist of but not limited to: chrome-finished bumpers, driver and passenger airbags, customized hubcaps, sturdy cargo liners, high-tech audio system, and power windows and locks.

As it is, all possible Ford Auto parts have been made available in the market. Said parts may be sold and provided in general terms or in a more specialized method that is relative to the Ford model, such as Ford F250 parts, Ford Focus parts, among others. The easy accessibility of these Ford Auto parts is to ensure the lifelong commitment and service that Ford provides its consumers.

Montoya Brings Aggressive Driving to Nascar

21 December 2009 | No Comments » | admin

Last summer, Formula One standout Juan Pablo Montoya announced that he will be competing on the NASCAR races. During his announcement he said that he was excited to bring his aggressive style of driving to the motorsport.

In Formula One, Montoya cemented his reputation as one of the most aggressive professional race car drivers today. While his skills combined with his unique style made him one of the most talented drivers today, he seems to be having trouble making friends in NASCAR as his aggressive style of driving seems to be rubbing his fellow NASCAR drivers the wrong way.

While NASCAR racing is more aggressive than Formula One, there is a limit to one?s aggressiveness on the tracks. And that is what Montoya is still trying to find out. Currently, the Colombian driver has already wreaked havoc on his fellow drivers with the season just starting. In Mexico, Montoya accidentally forced his teammate, Scott Pruett, off the road at the road race in the Busch Series. The road race saw Montoya securing his first win in the new field that he has entered. He has also reportedly ?annoyed? Jeff Gordon in Atlanta. Montoya also ran into Ryan Newman and Tony Raines at Martinsville. Aside from those incidents, Juan Pablo Montoya also managed to annoy two-time Nextel Cup Champion Tony Stewart as he tangles with him at the recently concluded Samsung 500 which happened in Texas.

In response to the criticism that he receives over his aggressive driving, Montoya has this to say: ?I don’t think Chip (Ganassi) hired me to run 20th every weekend, and I didn’t come here to run 20th every weekend. Is (contact) going to happen? Yeah, it’s going to happen a lot of weekends, but our aim is to run up front.? He added that: ?I think anybody that’s seen me race knows that I’m not going to back down.?

In the recent incident involving Montoya and a fellow driver, it seems that the ?rookie? will be having a hard time adjusting to the sport. Stewart, the latest victim of Montoya?s aggressive driving style, has this to say: ?If you race people with respect, you get respect. You might want to be just a little bit more patient just long enough to learn how everything’s done over here.? NASCAR aficionados have even compared Montoya?s aggressive driving to the skills of NASCAR legends like the late Dale Earnhardt Sr.

The common thinking is that aggressive drivers can have good success in the sport but they have to make sure that their aggressiveness is channeled so that it comes as not to be counter-productive.

Montoya?s start tote season is quite respectable. Being from Formula One, it is expected of him to eventually win in the NASACR races. Currently, the aggressive driving Colombian posted a win at the Busch Series and has already managed to get a couple of top ten finishes in the Nextel Cup. In Texas, the former CART champion managed an eighth place finish. He is driving a Dodge which is yet to win a race at the Nextel Cup. Currently, Dodge, Ford, and Toyota, are being dominated by Chevy at the Nextel Cup series. Equipped with for-race engineered engines which leaves far behind the performance of on-road Chevy vehicles equipped with the Chevy cold air intake system.

While Montoya is yet to show his true worth in NASCAR, drivers in the sport agrees that Montoya has got the talent to be come successful in the motorsport. Even Stewart said that Montoya is the most talented driver in his team. Although admitting Montoya?s flair for the game, Stewart added that: ?He didn’t make friends with me [at Texas], so he won’t get any help from me in the future.?

Nascar Devotion Is Resilient When Change Occurs

21 December 2009 | No Comments » | admin

There have been many changes to Nascar over the years, but changes are expected by fans and also by driver’s who are circling around a racetrack at speeds that exceed 200 miles per hour at times. The driver is an expert at changing speeds and lanes and changing speeds once again to be within the legal limits of those speeds posted on pit row.

Most of the changes in Nascar racing have occurred over time and have been directly related to the high-speed pursuits around million dollar raceways. Some of those changes have been painful ones but the Nascar family has remained strong through each of them. Some of the most violent experiences that occasionally occur at a raceway will no doubt cause some people to rethink their past relationships with sponsors, owners, and family.

The cascading effects of those thoughts might lead drivers to other action and cause them to change their driving commitments and their relationship with the world of Nascar excitement. These changes will in turn, put them on a new career path that is a welcome change but a change that might not be a delight to all fans who do not have a full understanding on why those changes needed to happen.

Some of these changes are due to a repositioning of priorities by a team owner or the change might occur because a driver needs to take a step back and rethink things long enough to begin establishing a new view on self-worth and on the view that commitment to self should take precedence and priority over family persuasion and other control factors. No changes that occur in Nascar should directly impact the drivers ability to keep the commitments that are expected by fans. Fans expect their favorite drivers to give their all to win the race they are in, no matter what team they are driving for that year.

Some changes in Nascar racing can keep that from happening though. In an instant, enthusiasts may have more action than they bargained for when they must see the gut wrenching tragedies unfold in front of them. These tragedies can change people in an instant because the action comes from race cars that inadvertently crash at inopportune moments into the various turns of any raceway. Other drivers are lost while they are enroute to the track.

Fare affected by the change and are committed to remembering those moments many times through the years with reverence. The commitment of fans to Nascar and their driver is what keeps changes from dampening the endearing spirit of the crowds. There is one change that will never occur. The fans will always be there on race day and every day after in some small way.

Refreshingly-new-ford-flex

21 December 2009 | No Comments » | admin

Ford has recently produced a string of mediocre vehicles. Partially as a result of their blandness, Ford sales have weakened significantly in recent years. Knowing that their range of vehicles is not particularly exciting, Ford has been busy designing all new vehicles to fill their lineup, such as the Ford Edge and the new Ford Focus. But the Ford Flex is perhaps the boldest of all these new vehicles.

The exterior of the Ford Flex is both retro and modern, with the styling of a wagon and SUV merged into one. Although the exterior can be a bit polarizing as many many auto repair Richmond VA customers have noticed while receiving service, causing a hate it or love it reaction, the design is certainly refreshing, and doesn?t fall in the boring design schemes of recent Ford models, such as the lackluster Five Hundred/Taurus.

Inside, the Ford Flex offers drivers a very comfortable environment, albeit a boxy one. The interior is classy and clean, with soft quality plastics and a moderate amount of chrome accents. Perhaps one of the most noticeable features of the Flex is the gigantic Vista Roof, which helps add plenty of visual appeal within the interior and is a huge attraction for Georgia Ford dealer customers. In addition, there?s a powerful ten speaker sound system, and even a rear seat refrigerator!

Drivers of the new Ford Flex will likely find the Sirius TravelLink a helpful tool. With this option, Flex buyers will be ale to have a wide range of information at their fingertips, including real-time traffic, weather, and even the locations and directions to the lowest-priced gas stations around the country. While gas prices continue to rise to all-time highs, a factor weighing heavily on the decisions of new car shoppers at Ford Dealers Ashland, knowing the best bargains on gas will be extremely helpful for many drivers.

The Ford Flex comes with Ford?s 3.5 liter V6 engine, producing 262 horsepower and 248 lb ft of torque. Although that may sound like plenty of power, the Flex is a large vehicle and the power may not seem like much when its full loaded with passengers and cargo. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Flex crossover shares much in common with the Taurus X. In addition to riding on a similar platform, the Flex also shares the same suspension, which should provide a competent ride for most passengers. The vehicle also offers a third row of seating, which should be large enough to make most passengers comfortable during trips. The Flex also features a large, wide cargo area that should provide plenty of room for cargo needs. In fact, the Flex should be able to accommodate items that are ten feet in length.

With more buyers interested in crossovers rather than the usual assortment of trucks and SUVs, there?s certainly a market for the Flex. Although the styling won?t appeal to everyone, many buyers will be drawn to the vehicle?s cargo capacity and passenger space. Buyers no longer want full-size truck-based SUVs, nor do they want mini vans either. Instead, consumers with a big family and a good amount of cargo will like a vehicle like Ford?s new Flex.

Why is Safety in NASCAR Still Lagging?

21 December 2009 | No Comments » | admin

NASCAR racing is all about speed, adrenaline, checkered flags, and, unfortunatley, accidents and injuries. Its in the news almost on a daily basis nowadays. “Dale Earnhardt Jr. briefly lost consciousness and he hid a significant head injury from his team and NASCAR last year”, “Winston Cup driver Jerry Nadeau, critically injured during a crash during practice at Richmond International Raceway”, etc… We will discuss what causes these crashes and injuries and what is currently being done to prevent them and why more needs to be done.

The worst injuries result in death and lately their have been numerous basal skull fractures received by drivers like Dale Earnhardt and Adam Petty. Doctors have determined that a helmet harness is a good protective measure to stop some of these injuries. A basal skull fracture can result fro a severe whipping forward motion and/or a sudden abrupt stop – as in Dale Earnhardt’s case. A basal skull fracture almost always results in immediate death. Another highly effective measure is shock or crash absorbing walls instead of steel reinforced concrete walls that have zero give – These could have spared Jerry Nadeau from his severe injuries or at least limited them. These walls are now being introduced and installed at several tracks.

NASCAR is over 50 years old. Why does it take a famous death or several to begin safety measures or to take them more seriously? Why is it that our own automobiles have air bags, side airbags, crumple zones, etc… Can’t these same devices be reconfigured for NASCAR specs. Air bags have been proven in tests to be highly effective at speeds well over 100 mph. NASCAR drivers deserve more protection than we are currently giving them. The problem is that more attention has been given to advertising, advertisers, and speed. Placement of advertisers stickers on the car were and still are more important than the driver. More money is spent to make sure the different advertisers have their brands clearly displayed on the driver and car than on any safety measures. Some safety measures are thought of as increasing too much weight and are therefor discarded (thicker firewalls, absorbant

Take any other sport – Football, Baseball, basketball – the athletes don’t have stickers, or patches with 50 different sponsors all over them. They are actually more concerned about athlete safety over advertising revenue in these sports, not in NASCAR, though. Yes, NASCAR is experiencing a huge winfall in earnings lately, but that cannot bring back the great legends like Dale Earnhardt. There is no problem with sport profits, but lets focus a little more on safety of our athletes. With all the money NASCAR has they should already be installing safety walls at all tracks, not just a few. Lets focus on safety rather than just on advertising dollars. That way we won’t be left praying for our drivers outcome after a crash anymore.

NASCAR And CCC: Attending To Rising Fuel Prices

21 December 2009 | No Comments » | admin

Car owners and drivers, as well, certainly have felt the effects of the upward movement of gas prices. In fact, many people have opted to use public transportation rather than use their cars and vehicles because of the high amount you have to pay in exchange for a liter or so of gas.

Now, it seems like everybody else is affected. Even the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, or much commonly known as NASCAR, have given approval for its arm, the NASCAR Performance Automotive Licensing Program, to join forces with the CCC, or the Car Care Council. Together, the two organizations has done brainstorming sessions and just recently launched a consumer education campaign which they dubbed as the “Be An Angel, Maintain Your Car And Save Some Gas”.

NASCAR and the CCC both maintain that this new campaign of theirs would also work as a call to action for all consumers. The campaign, in fact, even encourages car owners to maintain their vehicles regularly. This is because NASCAR and CCC believe that it is one of the best ways to achieve a better fuel mileage and in the process decreases expenses on gas.

A public service announcement that lasted for thirty seconds was produced by NASCAR. The organization is positing to run the mentioned announcement come the NASCAR programming which will actually launch and run throughout the whole month of July. Aside from this, all the local television stations scattered around the United States would also be receiving a copy of this public service announcement which they would have to run during their air time.

On the end of the Car Care Council, Rich White, its executive director, informs the public, “Higher gas prices are here to stay. But fortunately consumers can take greater control of how much gas their vehicles use by performing simple and inexpensive maintenance.”

NASCAR’s automotive licensing managing director, Odis Lloyd, explains, “The opportunity to help consumers with their car care needs has never been more significant. By using NASCAR’s extensive media assets and partnering with our manufacturing and installer partners, we can help consumers combat rising fuel costs by getting them the necessary vehicle repair information they need to get better fuel economy.”
