A vehicle’s exhaust system contribute to its overall performance, located here are the various components responsible for taking the exhaust away from the engine. The vital role these parts play, are what makes any vehicle run smoothly. But just because they efficiently emit those exhaust gases doesn’t mean it is all good. The emission should also be less harmful for the environment. To achieve this, the vehicle needs an effective catalytic converter. For car companies like GMC and Jeep, their catalytic converters are already built in the system.
GMC catalytic converter and Jeep catalytic converter help in reducing the toxicity of the vehicles’ exhaust. They basically remove harmful elements in the exhaust before they are released into the atmosphere. They do this by first keeping the air to fuel ratio very close to the stoichiometric point, which is the ideal calculation.
Most GMC catalytic converters and Jeep catalytic converters are three-way catalytic converters. This refers to the three regulated emissions they help to reduce, which are carbon monoxide, Hydrocarbons or volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and Nitrogen oxides (NOx) molecules. GMC catalytic converter and Jeep catalytic converter function in three stages. The first stage is The reduction catalyst, where platinum and rhodium are used to help reduce the nitrogen oxides emissions. In the second stage or oxidization catalyst, the catalytic converter reduces the unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide by burning or oxidizing them over a platinum and palladium catalyst. The final stage is a control system that monitors the exhaust stream. It also here where the information is used to control the fuel injection system.
The GMC Catalytic Converter and Jeep Catalytic Converter are great solutions to minimizing air pollution. Today, some car companies are also offering hybrid cars, which are powered by both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. GMC catalytic converters and Jeep catalytic converters are just alternatives, because they are either built in or installed later on.

Gasoline-powered vehicles such as your Pontiac are among the major contributors to urban air pollution. This can be attributed to the high quantities of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons that are being produced by the normal combustion process of your car. If these burnt gases are left uncontrolled, they would eventually contribute to urban smog, as well as heart and respiratory heart problems. To protect the air quality and improve the quality of air, your Pontiac vehicle has been equipped with a group of emission-control components known as the exhaust system. This group of car parts serves the main function of conveying burnt gases from your internal combustion engine. The Pontiac catalytic converter is an indispensable part of your exhaust system. It looks very much like the muffler, and can be usually seen mounted under the vehicle. It was first used in cars three decades ago, and has evolved into a more complex and more reliable emission control component because of automotive technology.
The number of catalytic converters installed on your vehicle depends on your car?s configurations. Some have 1 while others have 2 catalytic converters. But no matter how many catalytic converters you may have on your car, they still serve the same purpose?that is, to significantly minimize the harmful poisonous gases in your exhaust gases. A typical Pontiac catalytic converter is made up of a honeycomb form catalyst that is protected by a stainless steel canister. The interior surface of your Pontiac catalytic converter within the honeycomb structure is coated with catalytic metals such as rhodium, palladium, and platinum. There are 2 catalysts present in every catalytic converter?an oxidation catalyst and a reduction catalyst. The oxidation catalyst burns all the byproducts of your fuel combustion such as the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. On the other hand, the reduction catalyst ensures that the nitrogen oxides are turned into harmless emissions.
There are 2 types of catalytic converter: the two-way converter and the three-way converter. Also known as an oxidation catalytic converter, the two-way catalytic converter makes use of the oxidation process to transform the harmful pollutants into harmless gases. Through adsorption, the oxygen molecules, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbon are simplified into water vapor and carbon dioxide, which eventually goes out of the tailpipe. The three-way catalytic converter oxidizes the hydrocarbons and carbon monoxides and at the same time transforms the nitrogen oxides into less harmful nitrogen and oxygen. This type of catalytic converter is used in conjunction with the feedback engine management and fuel injection of the car. Your Pontiac catalytic converter can last for over 100,000 miles if properly maintained. A worn out catalytic converter can decrease the performance level and fuel economy of your engine, aside from contributing to urban pollution and health problems. You can easily determine if your Pontiac catalytic converter needs replacement when you hear some rattling noises from the catalyst, especially when your car is increasing speed. A defective oxygen sensor and poor maintenance are some of the leading causes of a worn out catalytic converter. So when this happens, do not think twice on replacing your defective Pontiac catalytic converter with a new one in order to maintain the emission control functions of your car.

With two vital functions, catalytic converters are a must in every car. Catalytic converters are emission control products that convert harmful combustion byproducts from your engine into harmless compounds. Thus, catalytic converters protect your car?s exhaust system while protecting the environment at the same time. With its very important function, choosing only quality catalytic converters is essential to ensure top protection for the car?s exhaust system and for the environment as well. Mercedes owners are especially fortunate as one good catalytic converter was particularly designed for the Mercedes cars: the Mercedes catalytic converter.
How does the Mercedes Catalytic Converter work? First, it converts carbon monoxide, a harmful gas emitted by the car?s exhaust system, into carbon dioxide, a harmless gas that naturally exists in the environment. Carbon monoxide released in the environment can be fatal to humans, plants, and animals. The main job of the Mercedes catalytic converter is to prevent the vehicle?s harmful emissions like the carbon monoxide to break out in the atmosphere by converting such to carbon dioxide. This process is done without compromising the Mercedes engine?s power and superior performance.
While the process is generally easy to understand, it used to be that the design of such catalytic converters is actually a bit complicated. The first-generation Mercedes catalytic converter was pellet-filled and very restrictive, as it provides the needed emissions reductions but reduces the power of the engine. Mercedes engineers then set to work on redesigning the Mercedes catalytic converter into the powerful but safe device that it is today. Fortunately, the ingenuity of the brains behind Mercedes parts has mastered the design and manufacturing process of the Mercedes catalytic converter, making it effective in converting harmful gases to safe ones without compromising the engine?s production power. At present, Mercedes catalytic converters are generally in two types: a high-flow Mercedes catalytic converter or a regular Mercedes catalytic converter. A high-performance, high-flow Mercedes catalytic converter often feature less restriction than the standard Mercedes catalytic converter, thus deriving better engine performance.
Designed to last longer, there is no need for much replacement or repair of the Mercedes catalytic converter. Nevertheless, when the need for replacement comes and the Mercedes catalytic converter?s function and use has been maximized, immediate replacement must be done to prevent an outbreak of deadly pollution in the air. Replacement Mercedes catalytic converters can be readily found in the market as most auto parts sellers in various stores nationwide and online have these in stock. Car owners on a budget need not worry as the Mercedes catalytic converter and replacement Mercedes catalytic converter is very affordable and is a worthwhile purchase for your Mercedes or any other car. That?s the beauty of the Mercedes catalytic converter ? it?s not limited for use in Mercedes cars as non-Mercedes cars can also use it.
Indeed, pollution-control car devices have become more efficient and long-lasting as compared to the early days of the automotive industry. The Mercedes catalytic converter is no exception. Through this wonder auto part, protecting one?s car and the environment is a simple feat.
