Honda to benefit from GM, Chrysler spinning their Wheels

2 January 2010 | No Comments » | admin

You know lately, the media has been focused on what is going to happen to some of America?s biggest business icons: GM and Chrysler

While there?s nothing wrong with that, my mind always has ?the wheels turning? and wondering how I can profit from what?s going on in the media. So many people watch the news for everything from ?entertainment to information?. However, I watch it to derive an investing idea out of it.

With the focal point being on a GM/Chrysler bankruptcy, their bleeding and ?wheel spinning?, it gives the CEO of Honda and other Asian automakers (and even Korean automakers like Hyundai) an edge at this time.

You see, as the auto industry got hit from the global slow down, GM (GM), Ford (F) and Chrysler took it on the chin the worst. However, Honda, Toyota and Mazda had something haunting them too?it was the strong yen. As the yen rose, it eroded their profits even more.

However, lately the Asian automaker stocks (symbols: HMC, TM) have stabilized.

Honda Siel Cars India to Locally Produce Honda Cr-vs

31 December 2009 | No Comments » | admin

Honda?s subsidiary in India, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) with plant located at the Greater Noida near Delhi is considering manufacturing the CR-V.

Currently, the CR-V Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) is imported from Japan and distributed in the Indian market. According to Masahiro Takedagawa, President and CEO of HSCI in an interview with DNA Money said, “We are studying the possibilities of producing the CR-V locally, which will help us become a far more active player in the growing SUV market.”

Around 300 units of CR-V are sold in India every month and priced at Rs 20 lakh. Nearly half of this figure is comprised of import duty components. And just in case Honda would finally decide to manufacture the CR-V locally, price would likely go down to Rs 12-14 lakh which will surely entice customers.

In the top-end SUV segment, CR-V is the lead player along with Mitsubishi Pajero, Ford Endeavour, Suzuki Vitara and other models of which mostly are directly imported.

The advantage of local production is that more CR-Vs will be produce and aside from that HSCI also believes that there is a potential to increase market share once the vehicle built a strong brand image in the market.

Mr. Takedagawa also said that the company is hoping to produce around 68,000 units comprising of Civic, City, and Accord. HSCI has announced that it intends to manufacture over 150,000 cars by 2010 which is the same year when annual car production in the country is expected to reach 2.5 million units. Mr. Takedagawa also said that the company is really serious in its desire to increase its overall market share in India. The company is hoping to close this fiscal with the production of around 68,000 units consisting of the Civic, Accord, and City.

In addition, Mr. Takedagawa mentioned that the company will introduce a new hatchback which it plans of introducing in a couple of years and will play an important role in the sales growth that Honda the producer of high quality Acura CL catalytic converter is expecting in the future. The car is said to be a derivative of the Jazz and is scheduled to be produced at the second plant in Rajasthan.

This new plant is different from the one at Greater Noida where body panels are imported but this will not be the case with the plant in Rajasthan where a stamping facility is being installed specifically for this purpose.

There are also plans of producing locally important engine parts to keep costs low and at the same time to increase production volumes.

The Honda Exhaust Manifolds

23 November 2009 | No Comments » | admin

Fuel is burned in order to keep your Honda vehicle in motion, and because fuel combustion involves intense chemical reactions, its byproducts need to be efficiently released from the combustion chamber. To facilitate this, exhaust components like the Honda exhaust manifolds are needed. These pipes direct the flow of exhaust gases from the combustion chambers to the exhaust pipe.

Honda was not initially interested in the manufacture of cars. The Japanese-based company started as a provider of basic transportation in the form of bicycles that were attached with engines. Soichiro Honda, the company?s founder, had big plans for the company as evident in the lofty name Honda Research Institute Company Ltd. It wasn?t until in the 1960s when Honda put his knowledge regarding motorcycles into the production of cars. Today, Honda continues that grand legacy, and it shows in the way its every model is a fantastic integration of the most efficient parts. Worthy of such tag is the Honda exhaust manifold, which is mounted on the cylinder head and under the intake manifold. Depending on the type of engine that an automobile uses, multiple Honda exhaust manifolds can be present in a single assembly. A single exhaust manifold is enough for engines with in-line cylinders while V6 and V8 engines need two separate exhaust manifolds?one on each cylinder head.

Honda exhaust manifolds act as the path for exhaust gases to flow from the cylinder head and into the exhaust. It can also serve as a mounting location for other components like for the air injection apparatus or the oxygen sensor. This function of the exhaust manifold depends on the other emissions elements in the car. Constructed from cast iron or tubular steel, Honda exhaust manifolds need to be inspected for leaks once in a while. When leak is detected, replacement must be done immediately or it may affect engine performance. For the most extensive Honda parts catalogue, take a look at our site, and you can surely find the right type for your car.

Honda Mufflers: More Performance Power, Less Exhaust Noise

20 November 2009 | No Comments » | admin

The exhaust system is integral in any Honda vehicle. It is basically a group of pipes and tubing designed to direct the exhaust gases created by the engine to the atmosphere. It consists of many components that help in this operation. One of these is the Honda muffler. Also called silencers, Honda mufflers reduce the exhaust noise for the comfort of the passengers. They also eliminate some of the toxic elements in the exhaust gases before these are released in the atmosphere.

Inside the muffler, a set of tubes capable of creating reflected waves can be found. These waves basically cancel each other out as the exhaust gases and the sound waves come in the center tube. They are then spring back to the muffler to go through different holes into another chamber. This is where the gas and noise come to the last pipe, and released to the atmosphere. Through the help of a resonating chamber, Honda mufflers can minimize the exhaust noise. Linked to the first chamber through a hole, the resonator holds a required volume of air and length that create a wave to decrease the sound. The resonator can commonly be found under the rear of the vehicle. In trucks with diesel engines and large mufflers, however, the resonator is located behind the cab.

Honda mufflers also contribute to the vehicle?s performance while reducing backpressure. Since the late 20th century when mufflers of this type were invented, they have been proven to improve the efficiency, performance, and power of the engine. They also extend the life of engine components. Another type of muffler capable of diminishing backpressure is a glass pack or a cherry bomb.

To maintain the performance of your Honda at a maximum level, you need efficient Honda mufflers. Our site offers a wide variety of mufflers guaranteed to give your vehicle a powerful performance and a smooth exhaust operation.
