Just days after Fiat took over Chrysler’s operation, the Italian automaker is unveiling some of its plans for the newly combined entity, one that may go well beyond Fiat supplying vehicle platforms, engines and transmissions for several upcoming small vehicles to be built in North America.
Sharing The Chrysler LX Platform
According to Canada’s Financial Post, Fiat has been eying Chrysler’s LX platform, the Daimler derived platform which currently underpins the Chrysler 300C and Dodge Charger full-sized sedans. That platform could be used to build a third model ? which would be the most upscale of the three ? and one sporting the Alfa Romeo moniker at that.
Alfa Romeo along with Ferrari, Maserati, Lancia and Fiat are all owned by the Fiat Group. Alfa Romeo falls somewhere in the middle of the Fiat pricing pack, but the sedan being considered for production in North America would most likely compete against some of Europe’s finest models including those built by Mercedes and BMW.
The 2012 Alfa Romeo 169
The Financial Post says that Fiat is weighing plans to build the Alfa Romeo 169 at the company’s Brampton, Ontario facility alongside that of the Charger and the 300C, beginning in November 2011. That move would time with the introduction of the next generation release of the Dodge and Chrysler models which initially were to roll out in late 2010 for the 2011 model year.
Some sources have pegged the 169’s price at about $62,000 which would be some $25,000 more than a fully equipped Chrysler 300C. However, the sedan would likely share few components beyond the platform, getting its own interior, suspension, engine and transmission.
Bringing Back Alfa Romeo
Well before Fiat had its eyes on Chrysler, the automaker had been wanting to reintroduce Alfa Romeo to the North American market, but the economic climate precluded its return. Fiat ceased selling Alfa Romeo models in North America in 1995, more than a decade after pulling the Fiat brand out of that highly competitive market. Ferrari and Maserati are still sold the US and Canada, although through separate dealer networks.
Chrysler’s slice of the North American market continues to shrink rapidly, something that Fiat hopes to stem with a bevy of new models. Between its Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands along with Fiat and Alfa Romeo, the combined manufacturing capacity of the Chrysler Group could help the newly combined entity recapture some of what has been lost.

There is a debate about how to achieve oil independence. Should we increase drilling in America and off our shores, should we reduce consumption, should we build more refineries, should we explore alternative energy sources, should we legislate greater fuel economy for our vehicles or do we attack the problem by working on all the solutions?
Most Americans want us to become energy independent as soon as possible while some still resist more drilling at home. And so the political debate continues. Whether we drill more, build more refineries, develop alternative energy sources or increase the fuel economy of our vehicles will depend on our legislators reaching some compromise and passing new law as the current laws restrict most of the solutions. As our politicians continue the debate, the price of oil continues to rise. American families struggle with the rising cost of gasoline, food and other commodities. And our economy is in a mess.
Private sector scientists have been researching vehicle fuel economy for many years. Most of this research has been conducted by automobile companies. We have seen the miles per gallon for cars gradually increase over the last decade.
Now an independent research firm has developed two devices that you install on your vehicle that will greatly increase the miles per gallon of your current vehicle. The most effective device is called the PICC or Pre-Ignition Catalytic Converter. All cars today have a catalytic converter as a part of the exhaust system. Its function is to break down large gas molecules not burned by the engine into much smaller particles that are then consumed in the exhaust pipe to reduce the harmful emissions into the air. In a revolutionary design, the PICC is installed so the gas flow through the PICC before it gets to your engine. The PICC works similarly to the existing catalytic converter. It breaks down the gas molecules to their most elemental state called plasma. This plasma is then fed to your engine. Plasma burns much more efficiently and cleaner that gas. This added efficiency has been proven in research on actual vehicles to increase the gas mileage 9 times that of gasoline. Can you even imagine that. Vehicles equipped with a PICC are getting well over 100 miles to a gallon of gas. Some are getting almost 200 miles to the gallon. The PICC works on passenger cars, SUV?s, pick-ups and all vehicles new or old. Converting your gas to plasma creates a cleaner burning fuel which will extend the life of your motor and it significantly reduces greenhouse gasses emitted into the environment as well. This product will pay for itself and put extra money in your pocket.
The PICC is custom manufactured to your vehicle?s specifications when your order. The company also offers another product called the HAFC or Hydro-Assist Fuel Cell. This is a kit that is ready for you to install in your car while waiting for your custom PICC to be manufactured. The HAFC is guaranteed to increase your gas mileage by at least 50 percent. Some vehicles have seen an improvement in their gas mileage of up to 300 percent.
These two revolutionary products the PICC and the HAFC are now available to the general public. You can be the first in your neighborhood to have one. Don?t delay. You owe it to yourself and your wallet to investigate these 2 amazing products. You can reduce your gas budget, help our environment and lessen our dependence on foreign oil. The products are guaranteed so you have nothing to lose and so much to gain.
Are you just about “over it” with the talk of high gas prices? What if you never, ever thought about gas prices again? With the Get Power Club Fuel Kit, you’re guaranteed to save at least 50% of the money you spend on gas and put the rest of your hard earned cash in your own pocket. Few would debate that the Ford Taurus of past generations was about as unexciting and commonplace as a loaf of bread. But the new Taurus SHO (Super High Output) is attempting to shatter that dull image with the vibrancy of a very potent 365 horsepower engine. But this Ford offers more than just power. One of its main selling points is that this new Taurus has the power of a V8 and the fuel efficiency of a V6, in this case a 3.5 liter ?ecoboost? V6. How did Ford manage to strike such an ideal compromise between horsepower and efficiency, and between excitement and utility? It certainly wasn?t due to new, innovative engineering, nor cutting-edge technology. They simply did what most car companies (including themselves!) did back in the late 1970s and early 1980s in response to the energy crisis: they added a turbocharger (two in the case of the new SHO) to an existing engine in their lineup.
Turbochargers allowed car companies to use eco-friendly, efficient, and small four-cylinder engines without completely sacrificing power. But as the energy crisis and obsession with efficiency and gas mileage waned in the early 1990s, naturally aspirated V6s and V8s (without turbos) made their triumphant return. Only a few manufacturers, such as Audi/VW, Volvo, and perhaps most ubiquitously, Saab, continued employing the proven formula of small turbocharged engines. And anyone familiar with Saabs knows of their legendary fuel efficiency?and it?s no coincidence that their cars used small turbocharged inline-fours almost exclusively.
Without a doubt, today the turbocharger has whooshed its way back into engine bays, and this time it seems that it will be here to stay. These new turbo engines are much more performance-oriented than their predecessors, and have found their way into sporty cars instead of pedestrian ones. Budget imports like Subaru?s WRX and Mitsubishi?s Lancer Evo, and domestics like the Dodge Neon SRT-4, all use turbos. The immense popularity and affordability of these cars, their reputation for thrilling performance, and movies like The Fast and the Furious, which abounds with turbocharged cars chirping their blow-off valves, have created a generation of car tuners lusting for that oversized snail lurking beneath the hood.
Above all, turbocharging in its various guises has become such a popular modification because it is by far the best bang-for-your-buck, assuming you know what you?re doing, of course. A large intercooler conspicuously showcased behind the front bumper, the ?pshh? sound of a blow off valve between gear shifts, and the intoxicating, jet-like sound of a spooling turbo are all bonuses that tastefully alert any tuner to the fact that your car is packing a lot more than your average import.
Obviously, a turbo kit is a desirable upgrade for anyone looking to substantially augment their car’s power. But what exactly is a turbocharger, and what?s so special about it? At its most basic level, a turbocharger is simply an air pump/compressor driven by hot exhaust gases. On non-turbocharged engines, the exhaust gases from the engine run uninterrupted through an exhaust manifold(s) and through the rest of the exhaust system and out the tail pipe.
A turbocharged engine is a bit more complicated. On such an engine, instead of flowing straight through to the muffler, exhaust gases first travel through an exhaust manifold (turbo manifold), which collects and directs all of the exhaust gas into a large opening of the turbo that leads to the exhaust turbine (see picture below). From here, some of the gases flow out of the back side of the turbo, through a down pipe, and out the muffler like in a naturally aspirated engine. But the majority of the hot gases flow into the exhaust turbine, and in doing so the moving air spins the exhaust wheel (a small metal fan with many blades) inside of the exhaust turbine. This moving air causes the wheel to rotate very quickly?sometimes as high as 120,000 RPMs. The exhaust wheel sits on a shaft that rotates with it; on the other end of the shaft there is another wheel, known as the compressor wheel. This wheel spins at exactly the same rate as the one in the exhaust turbine, but it does nothing with the exhaust gases. Instead, ambient air is drawn through the turbocharger?s inlet pipe, where the rapidly moving compressor wheel literally compresses the air above atmospheric pressure, and then sends it out of the compressor?s outlet, where it then flows to the inlet of an intercooler en route to the engine’s throttle body and intake manifold.
The amount that this air is compressed varies widely depending on things like the stoutness of the engine?s internal parts and the fuel and engine management systems. This amount is measured in pounds per square inches, and is commonly known as ?boost.? So low boost is around 5-10 psi (above atmospheric pressure), medium boost is around 10-15 psi, and high boost is 15-20+ psi. While this is a huge over-simplification, the more boost a certain engine produces, the more power is generated. In general, an increase of about 10 horsepower accompanies every 1 psi increase in boost. Right off the bat, it?s obvious that a lot of power can be made from boost?at only 5 psi the engine would still be producing roughly 50 more horsepower than if it did not have a turbocharger. Compare this power increase with what could be had by a set of expensive, difficult-to-install camshafts on a non-turbo engine, which might afford the engine 10-15 horsepower more, and it is obvious that turbocharging is the way to go for serious power increases.
Be sure to come back soon to the Raleigh Tuner Car page for the step-by-step process of turbocharging the engine of a Nissan 240sx, and in doing so increasing power from 155 to 400+!

How does one supercharge the brainpower with subliminal messaging? Well, the theory behind this is that the mid is capable of some truly awesome things, and this is a fact that the medical and scientific industry has been harping a lot of the time. This is why there has been so much extensive research on the brain; especially the effects on subconscious manipulation. We can take inspirations from those who are truly religious and use the power of meditation to pull of some amazing stuff; like not eating for days, or the ability to lift things beyond their capabilities and the ability to withstand a healthy amount of pain without flinching.
While there is much talk about mind over matter, most of us do not have the tools necessary to pull off our very own little miracles, so we need to think about aids to help us get to that destination. There are no drugs and chemicals known at this time that can help you achieve this although some hippies over an Amsterdam would most likely beg to differ. While drugs can get us into state of mental high and release the trappings of the conscious mind, there is much doubt that it can actually give us greater mental acuity and allow us to overcome our fears in the long run.
Also, hypnosis and hypnosis CD’s are a waste of time, because they assume that everyone out there has the ability to get hypnotised easily – by their own accord. While affirmation is one of the great techniques to get some real good results, it is not for everyone and it can get tedious after a while constantly repeating and writing down the same things over and over again. We have to understand that there is a appeal of the mass fast food culture population, who would like to see the easiest way laid out in front of them and when it comes to supercharging the brain, it seems even this intricate and potentially gratifying niche has not escaped normal consumer patterns.
So the personal development industry stepped in and had a look at a few things. It threw out the more complicated and science laden methods and concentrated on the easy few that could possibly be repackaged into something that would both be cost effective and appealing to the mass market. They finally settled on subliminal messaging and repackaged the power of overt messages to the sub conscious mind in the form of an audio CD. Some of them came in visual stimulation software, but the more popular CD won out in the end and this dominates the current market.
So there you have it. Packaged and retailed, available on the internet at affordable prices is the revolution that is subliminal messaging. What you will soon have in your hands is the turnkey to supercharging your brain power and improving every aspect of your life. Join in the populations of people who have benefited from walking around with a brain like no other.
There are many who are looking forward to retirement and would like to spend their time seeing the country from the inside of their home away from home. Most are also shocked at the average 5 or so mpg that RV?s get, and they end up with their dreams dashed. Well there are also some other factors that they aren?t aware of. There a few modifications that can be made to dramatically increase power and fuel economy of RV?s and Motorhomes.
The first upgrade that comes to mind is the performance chips or module. Most people aren?t aware that these are available for such big engines. Most of these chips and modules are available only for diesel motorhomes but there are also a select few for the gas versions. These performance modules and chips alter the fueling in many ways. They can increase timing which tells the engine to inject the fuel slightly sooner to improve the efficiency of the engine. They can also do what is called duration which tells the engine to hold the injector open longer, to add more fuel. The last way is called pressure which tells the engine to increase the pressure in the fuel lines slightly to put more pressure up against the fuel injector, this creates a finer mist when injecting into the cylinder and helps a higher percentage of the fuel to be burned. Most modules and chips use a combination of these methods to increase power and economy.
The only other modification that the average person would do to a Motorhome or RV to increase power and economy is an exhaust system. There aren?t really any companies that make full exhaust systems so to have one custom made can get a little expensive. The best alternative is the aero turbine muffler made by aero exhaust. This muffler has a straight through design free from the baffles and restrictions of the average muffler so the exhaust can flow more freely. The Aero Turbine Muffler also works similar to a jet engine due to its inner design. The Jet like insides speed up the exhaust as it flows through which dramatically increases performance and economy. The muffler comes in a resonated and non resonated version. They both are dyno tested to give the same results, the only difference is the sound. The non resonated version has a deeper throatier tone, the resonated version is closer to stock sound levels although it still has a deep throaty tone to it.
The RV / Motorhome Performance Chip and Aero Exhaust muffler are the best start to RV / Motorhome Performance – Nathan Young
My muffler was disconnescted to the tail pipe and I got power on my engine. I have now 25 percent extra power. I also have now great savings on gas, about 35 percent.
What do you think happened? Is the muffler defective?
Upgrading your exhaust can give you far superior performance
What?s missing? You?ve taken your Ranger RZR and you?ve basically torn it apart and added as much horsepower that you can afford. Maybe you?ve ported, polished or even taken the engine .30 over. You?ve added an improved electronics package while going high tech with every added component that you could find. You topped it off with fuel injection capable of feeding your new beats appetite, Your machine looks good and you have a build sheet that would impress a Baja pro racer but when you fire that monster up you get less than desirable horsepower output on the dyno or on the track and in worse case you get miss firing and unstable performance.
What?s missing? Polaris exhaust Well, when the fuel injection was installed was the monster given a bigger throat to breathe with? More horsepower means you?ll need more fuel and finally; one of the most commonly overlooked necessities of properly working horsepower is the ability to breathe. No one forgets the slap on the K&N filter kit but in most cases the beast is not given adequate exhaust. Not only are exhaust gases poisonous to us, they are poisonous to your Ranger too. If the higher levels of spent fuel are not removed from the engine it will rob your motor of horsepower that you?ve spent a lot of money building.
A lot of people look at an exhaust as cosmetic or to enhance the throaty sound that is desirable in larger displacement engines. These attributes have their merit but the fundamental necessity for an exhaust is to clear out the unnecessary gas from your engine and to create backpressure. Just going to the local store to build an exhaust is costly, time consuming and generally unproductive time spent. Every application is different and unless you are going to a specialty store for your parts the chances of you getting an exhaust set up for your Ranger is unlikely.
Having an exhaust custom built is better but it is the most expensive method since they are generally custom fabricated to fit your application. It also means longer downtime as it takes longer to get these exhausts manufactured. You?re also stuck with local shops unless you are good at tracing your needs or you can afford to ship your Ranger to your fabricator.
When it comes to cost, ease and having a correct fitting exhaust going to the experts at Polaris for their custom fit exhausts will prove to be the best solution for a person trying to get the most horsepower out of their upgrades. The Polaris Ranger exhaust boasts a 15% horsepower gain at the engine and has been race tested in Baja to ensure maximum performance. You owe it to your beast to give it a louder voice and a better throat to breathe!
